Table lamp BL2, different stem and dome finishes
A sample product of the series in a representative store! (Wall lamp BL7, gray / brass)
The classic Bestlite BL2 table lamp is the work of British designer Robert Dudley Best, influenced by Bauhaus aesthetics, since 1930. The charm of the luminaire with its clean lines but elegant look lies in its simplicity, which is influenced by this period.
Available in a variety of finishes and colors, the adjustable foot and dome luminaire make it ideal for the home office, bedroom or living room.
Thanks to its functionality, the luminaire was first used in garages and in the British Royal Air Force's engineering department. The breakthrough in the world of design took place thanks to the well-known magazine "Architects Journal", where the Bestlite luminaire was awarded the title of "the first British proof of the Bauhaus". This was accompanied by a high demand for luminaires. The Bestlite BL1 luminaire was also personally chosen by politician Winston Churchill for his desktop, which he says he carried with him on trips around the world. It was a major breakthrough for the luminaire, which made it a true design classic.
Authentic design with a long history remains close to its roots even today and corresponds to its original design. The design gem, loved by architects and designers, is on display at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London as well as the Design Museum in London.
The Bestlite BL collection also includes a selection of table, floor and wall luminaires in different finishes.
